Poverty

The state of being poorly endowed in material possessions. Poverty is understood to encompass many different aspects including inadequate consumption, inadequate income and asset base, and inadequate access to basic infrastructure and services. But in most nations, poverty is measured in terms of the population falling below income-based or consumption-based poverty lines. (MIT) Warren L. Dean Jr., an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown University Law Center, wrote: “Washington has done more during Mr. Obama’s term in office to promote wealth and income inequality than at any other time in history.” It is proved that the most poorest cities of the United States, such as Detroit, Richmond and Oakland, California are under the liberal big government-Welfare state-Nanny state control of the Democrats.1

U.S. Poverty

(WND) According to Ronald Kessler’s book, “Inside The White House” (1996), Lyndon Johnson explained his abrupt change in strategy to two Democrat governors aboard Air Force One, saying: “I’ll have those n—-rs voting Democratic for the next 200 years.” Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society welfare state proceeded to enroll large numbers of minorities into entitlement programs, leading to a dependency and a strong inclination to vote for the party promising a continuance of those entitlements. Johnson, with the help of Democrat Sen. Edward Kennedy, also changed immigration quotas to bring in more immigrants from poorer countries who would similarly enroll in entitlement programs and thus be inclined to vote for candidates who continued and increased entitlements.

The welfare state’s providing of more money to a household if a father was not present in the home adversely affected the strong church-centered African-American families and neighborhoods. As lower income voters grew in their dependency on government programs, it proportionally increased the Democratic Party’s voting constituency. Prior to LBJ’s “War on Poverty,” less than 2 percent of the federal budget was on welfare spending. Fifty years later, spending has mushroomed to 27 percent of the federal budget, costing $22 trillion over that same period (1964-2014), three times the cost of all U.S. military wars since the Revolution, yet the percentage of people in poverty has not improved.

Before LBJ’s “War on Poverty,” less than 5 percent of children were born to unmarried parents. Fifty years later, it had skyrocketed to 40 percent. Before LBJ’s “War on Poverty,” less than 10 percent of U.S. children lived in single-parent households. Fifty years later, that number had exploded to 33 percent, with the poverty rate of single female parent households growing to 37.1 percent.

On Feb. 5, 1997, African-American Republican Rep. J.C. Watts Jr., stated: “For the past 30 years our nation’s spent $5 trillion trying to erase poverty, and the result, as you know, is that we didn’t get rid of it at all. In fact, we spread it. We destroyed the self-esteem of millions of people, grinding them down in a welfare system that penalizes moms for wanting to marry the father of their children, and penalizes moms for wanting to save money. Friends, that’s not right. …”

Internationally renowned pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson stated: “My mother worked as a domestic, two, sometimes three jobs at a time because she didn’t want to be on welfare. She felt very strongly that if she gave up and went on welfare, that she would give up control of her life and of our lives, and I think she was probably correct about that. … But, one thing that she provided us was a tremendous example of what hard work is like.”

Dr. Carson added: “The more solid the family foundation, the more likely you are to be able to resist peer pressure. Human beings are social creatures. We all want to belong, we all have that desire, and we will belong, one way or another. If the family doesn’t provide that, the peers will, or a gang will, or you will find something to belong to. That’s why it becomes so critical for families with young children to understand what a critical anchor they are.”

Beginning in the 1960s, educational emphasis migrated from strictly academic achievement to include more behavior modification. Voters who were less educated tended to be more easily manipulated, as foreshadowed in the pre-Civil War South where it was a crime to teach slaves to read.

An effort began to redefined “racism” to mean anyone opposing big government welfare programs. In a tragic irony, growing dependency on government handouts appeared reminiscent of the dependency that existed on Southern Democrat plantations where slaves waited for handouts from their masters. Media, music and entertainment began to increasingly be employed to stir passions and prejudices for political purposes, as President William Henry Harrison warned in his inaugural, 1841: “The understanding of men can be warped and their affections changed by operations upon their passions and prejudices.”

Political organizers exploited racial tensions. Saul Alinsky wrote in “Rules for Radicals”:

  • The organizer’s first job is to create the issues or problems. …
  • The organizer must first rub raw the resentments of the people of the community. …
  • The organizer … polarizes the issue … and helps to lead his forces into conflict. …
  • An organizer must stir up dissatisfaction and discontent. …
  • Fan the latent hostilities of many of the people to the point of overt expression.
  • He must search out controversy and issues, rather than avoid them … for unless there is controversy people are not concerned enough to act.”

Earlier in the century, Republican Booker T. Washington had written in “My Larger Education – Being Chapters from My Experience” (1911, ch. V: The Intellectuals and the Boston Mob, P. 118): “There is another class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs – partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs. …”

Booker T. Washington stated: “There is a certain class of race-problem solvers who do not want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public.”

Rep. J.C. Watts, Jr. stated Feb. 5, 1997: “Too often when we talk about racial healing, we make the old assumption that government can heal the racial divide. … Republicans and Democrats – red, yellow, black and white – have to understand that we must individually, all of us, accept our share of responsibility. … It does not happen by dividing us into racial groups. It does not happen by trying to turn rich against poor or by using the politics of fear. It does not happen by reducing our values to the lowest common denominator. And friends, it does not happen by asking Americans to accept what’s immoral and wrong in the name of tolerance. …”

J.C. Watts continued:

“We must be a people who dare, dare to take responsibility for our hatred and fears and ask God to heal us from within. And we must be a people of prayer, a people who pray as if the strength of our nation depended on it, because it does. …”

I’ve often told the story of a boy and his father. The father was trying to get some work done, and the boy wanted the daddy’s attention, but the father was busy at his desk with so much to do. To occupy the boy, this father … remembered that he had seen a picture of the world in this magazine. In what he thought was a stroke of genius, the father tore out the picture and tore it into 20 different pieces, and he said, ‘Here son. Go put the world back together.’ And you know what happened? Five minutes later the little Michelangelo was back, saying, ‘Daddy, look what I’ve done.’ The father looked, and he said, ‘Son, how did you do it so quickly? How did you put the world back together so quickly?’ And the little boy answered, ‘Dad, it was easy. There was a picture of a man on the back of the map, on the back of the world. And once I put the man back together, the world fell into place.’ And friends, this is our agenda: to put our men and women back together, and, in that way, get our country back together.”

According to the Los Angeles Times, Democratic-controlled California actually has the highest poverty rate in the entire nation…

Guess which state has the highest poverty rate in the country? Not Mississippi, New Mexico, or West Virginia, but California, where nearly one out of five residents is poor. That’s according to the Census Bureau’s Supplemental Poverty Measure, which factors in the cost of housing, food, utilities and clothing, and which includes noncash government assistance as a form of income.

Mac Slavo of SHTFplan.com, adds the following:

Not only do nearly half of America’s homeless people live in California, but four of the five American cities with the greatest incidences of unsheltered homelessness are in the Golden State.

San Francisco, Los Angeles, Santa Rosa, and San Jose are four of the five cities with the highest amount of homelessness. Seattle joins the California municipalities in the top five. According to Market Watch, the rates of homelessness are the highest in Washington D.C. The District of Columbia’s homeless rate is at 5.8 times the United States rate. New York is next, followed by Hawaii, Oregon, and California. These five states together comprise 20% of the overall U.S. population but 45% of the country’s homeless population. All of these states are incredibly liberal with several already having instituted tight socialist policies.

But aren’t Democrats supposed to be the ones that care about the poor?

Well, they certainly throw a lot of money at the problem, but all of that money does not appear to be helping.  In fact, the Los Angeles Times has even admitted that California’s spending on anti-poverty programs “actually seems to have made it worse”…

It’s not as though California policymakers have neglected to wage war on poverty. Sacramento and local governments have spent massive amounts in the cause. Several state and municipal benefit programs overlap with one another; in some cases, individuals with incomes 200% above the poverty line receive benefits. California state and local governments spent nearly $958 billion from 1992 through 2015 on public welfare programs, including cash-assistance payments, vendor payments and “other public welfare,” according to the Census Bureau. California, with 12% of the American population, is home today to about one in three of the nation’s welfare recipients.

The generous spending, then, has not only failed to decrease poverty; it actually seems to have made it worse.

That is a stunning admission from the Los Angeles Times. And poverty is not just at crisis levels in California.

Referencing data collected by the U.S. Census Bureau, CBS News composed a list of the top ten most impoverished cities in the United States. The ubiquity of Democratic governance is heightened in this context, as nine out of the ten poorest cities are run by Democrats. Combining the past ten mayors of the three poorest cities — Philadelphia, Milwaukee, and Detroit — there are twenty-three Democrats, three Socialists, two Independents, and two Republicans. In essence, the three most impoverished cities in America have seen more governance in the past 50 years by Socialists than by Republicans, and the ratio of Democratic governance to Republican governance is about 12:1.

Ouch. And even the Democratic-controlled cities that are supposedly “thriving” economically are still dealing with squalor on an unprecedented scale. For example, one investigation found 300 piles of human feces on the streets of downtown San Francisco.  The following comes from NPR

San Francisco’s streets are so filthy that at least one infectious disease expert has compared the city to some of the dirtiest slums in the world.

The NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit surveyed 153 blocks of the city in February, finding giant mounds of trash and food on the majority of streets. At least 100 discarded needles and more than 300 piles of human feces were also found in downtown San Francisco, according to the report.

The Democratic Party is definitely not the answer, and the Republican Party often makes the mistake of trying to lean closer to the Democratic Party in order to try to win independent voters.  But in the process, the GOP seems to have lost the values and principles that once made it so appealing to so many of us. We need fresh thinking, and we desperately need to return to the values and principles that once made this nation so great.  If we want different results, we need real change, and that means getting rid of most of the people that are currently holding political office all across America. (Source: Infowars)

The United Nations wants you to think it cares about poverty — and to prove it, the widely ridiculed dictators club launched a major investigation into “poverty” in late 2017. This globally hyped “investigation” into alleged “extreme poverty” was not focused on Zimbabwe, Cuba, North Korea, Venezuela, Haiti, Chad, Congo, or other nations impoverished by Big Government. Instead, the UN’s brave investigators have been deployed to “investigate” the richest country in the history of humanity — a nation where welfare pays more than minimum wage, where one hour of minumum wage work is worth more than many of the world’s people earn in a week, and where the “poor” often drive nice cars, enjoy flat-screen televisions, and regularly eat until they become obese.

The UN propaganda tour, led by fanatical anti-Trump zealot Philip Alston, the bombastically titled “UN Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights,” went across the nation telling “journalists” how bad America was. He dishonestly demonized freedom, undermined individual rights, promoted Big Government, and gave cover to brutal regimes that have driven their people to starvation. He was even given a tour through Skid Row by a fringe anti-police “community organizer” funded by billionaire extremist George Soros.

The far-left establishment media in America happily played along with the UN’s phony narrative, too, portraying Americans as helpless and useless wretches simply waiting around to be fed, housed, clothed, and cared for by their uncaring government. Reporting on a visit by the UN “expert” to Puerto Rico, for instance, the increasingly statist Associated Press quoted a number of Puerto Ricans who acted as if the U.S. government had some sort of moral and even legal duty to rebuild their houses, feed them, fund their local governments, remove debris from their streets, and more. (U.S. taxpayers and donors sent many billions in relief, but the Clinton’s, in charge of the relief efforts of the 2010 earthquake, only gave 2% back to Haiti) Of course, in reality, the U.S. Constitution delegates no power over “disaster relief” or poverty to the federal government — period. And there are plenty of independent-minded people in Puerto Rico, none of them quoted by the establishment media, who resent being treated like children or prisoners in desperate need of government caregivers.

Unfortunately, it is true that there is some poverty in America. Perhaps more unfortunately, though, the UN had no interest in the actual causes of this poverty — causes such as the central banking scam, a corrupt monetary system that enables a banking cartel to conjure money into existence for its cronies, a crony governmental system that robs the poor to give to the politically connected mega-rich, onerous taxation that now consumes trillions of dollars per year, a regulatory regime that costs Americans trillions per year, pseudo-“free trade” regimes and organizations designed to subvert national independence while hollowing out critical sectors of the U.S. economy, illegal wars demanded by the UN that maim young Americans mentally and physically for life while bankrupting taxpayers, and so much more.

Instead of those legitimate concerns, the UN is interested in exploiting “poverty” only to the extent that it serves to justify — at least to the propagandists in the establishment media who will then parrot it to the public — everything from Big Government and dependence to globalism, socialism, and technocracy. Indeed, even when the UN “expert” admitted to being “impressed” with how local non-profit organizations in Puerto Rico had helped locals recover from the storm, he continued by claiming that “one of the challenges is how the government can harness their power.” Why anybody would want the power and efforts of voluntary organizations and charities “harnessed” by government was not made clear. And yet, for the UN and the globalist Big Government mongers who populate its upper ranks, this ideological extremism is the norm.

Brazenly attempting to pervert the meaning of human rights, which America’s Founders said are endowed upon each individual by God, Alston claimed “human rights” require that government assume responsibility for feeding, housing, clothing, and medicating the public. “The idea of human rights is that people have basic dignity and that it’s the role of the government — yes, the government! — to ensure that no one falls below the decent level,” he said, ignoring the incredible generosity of Americans and the understanding of God-given individual rights outlined in the Declaration of Independence and codified in the Constitution. “Civilized society doesn’t say for people to go and make it on your own and if you can’t, bad luck.”

In America, despite the fake news and deceptive impressions delivered by the UN and its allies in the establishment media, individual people and churches — especially Christians — already provide massive poverty and disaster relief, not only in America, but worldwide. According to multiple news reports following the hurricanes that hit the United States in 2017, faith-based groups, not government, were responsible for a staggering 80 percent of the aid delivered to affected communities. Different churches, working with each other, divided up the work, with certain Christian denominations delivering water and other supplies while others focused on providing meals and still others helped in clean-up and rebuilding efforts. Aside from that, American charities are typically the first on the scene when disaster strikes in other nations, too. Whether these facts will make it into the UN report remains to be seen.

But American generosity that far exceeds that of any other country is a phenomenon that has long been documented. Indeed, even after generations of statist indoctrination and Big Government, Americans are still the most charitable people in the world, by a great deal. According to a survey by the Almanac of American Philanthropy released in 2016, Americans on average out-donate Europeans from nations such as Italy and Germany at a 20-to-one rate. Americans also overwhelmingly trust private charities over government agencies to solve the nation’s social problems. In fact, the margins are massive, with almost half of Americans believing in private charity versus less than a third — no doubt the non-givers — trusting government. Alston apparently thinks the will of the people should be ignored, in favor of the UN’s extremist demands. Perhaps he hates “democracy.”

While in decline due to government taxation and welfare, as well as the erosion of religion and morals, American generosity has always been part of the nation’s ethos. “Wherever at the head of some new undertaking you see the government in France, or a man of rank in England, in the United States you will be sure to find an association,” wrote Alexis De Toqueville, a Frenchman who traveled through America in the 1830s and wrote a glowing report about the liberty-minded, Christian nation he witnessed. “Americans of all ages, all conditions, all minds constantly unite. Not only do they have commercial and industrial associations in which all take part, but they also have a thousand other kinds: religious, moral, grave, futile, very general and very particular, immense and very small; Americans use associations to give fêtes, to found seminaries, to build inns, to raise churches, to distribute books, to send missionaries to the antipodes; in this manner they create hospitals, prisons, schools.”

The UN and its largely autocratic member regimes would have everyone believe that only government can and should provide hospitals, schools, and relief from poverty or disasters. And yet, over two centuries of American experience prove that this narrative is not only fundamentally flawed, but dangerous. In reality, charities, churches, and voluntary associations have always done a much better job than government. Government, for its part, has utterly failed, unless making more people dependent upon government was the goal: In 2014, on the 50 year anniversary of the start of the “War on Poverty,” there were a record number of people on welfare.

Countless propaganda reports from around the world cited the dubious claim that there are “41 million Americans officially in poverty according to the U.S. Census Bureau.” What they did not say is that people under the official “poverty line” in America — including this writer, incidentally — live far, far better than even the tiny middle classes throughout most of the rest of the world. Rather than wasting taxpayer money on “investigating” alleged “poverty” in the United States, the UN would be better served by investigating the well-documented, officially acknowledged epidemic of child rape and sexual abuse among UN “peacekeeping” forces. But that investigation would not advance the dictator club’s party line — especially the totalitarian ideology holding that “human rights” do not include freedom from coercion, but instead require slavery in the form of dependence and unlimited government.

A preliminary report by Alston was released on December 15th 2017, with a more comprehensive scathing document released in May 2018 highlighting Trump policies as a reason for American poverty. (Source: TheNewAmerican.com)

World Poverty

In a report published in January 2018 to coincide with the gathering of some of the world’s richest people at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Oxfam said billionaires had been created at a record rate of one every two days over the previous 12 months, at a time when the bottom 50% of the world’s population had seen no increase in wealth. It added that 82% of the global wealth generated in 2017 went to the most wealthy 1%.

Booming global stock markets were the main reason for the increase in wealth of those holding financial assets during 2017. The founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, saw his wealth rise by $6bn (£4.3bn) in the first 10 days of 2017 as a result of a bull market on Wall Street, making him the world’s richest man.

Oxfam said it had made changes to its wealth calculations as a result of new data from the bank Credit Suisse. Under the revised figures, 42 people hold as much wealth as the 3.7 billion people who make up the poorer half of the world’s population, compared with 61 people last year and 380 in 2009. At the time of last year’s report, Oxfam said that eight billionaires held the same wealth as half the world’s population.

The charity added that the wealth of billionaires had risen by 13% a year on average in the decade from 2006 to 2015, with the increase of $762bn (£550bn) in 2017 enough to end extreme poverty seven times over. It said nine out of 10 of the world’s 2,043 billionaires were men.

Karen Hudes is a graduate of Yale Law School and she worked in the legal department of the World Bank for more than 20 years.  In fact, when she was fired for blowing the whistle on corruption inside the World Bank, she held the position of Senior Counsel. She was in a unique position to see exactly how the global elite rules the world, and the information that she is now revealing to the public is absolutely stunning.  According to Hudes, the elite uses a very tight core of financial institutions and mega-corporations to dominate the planet.

The goal is control.  They want all of us enslaved to debt, they want all of our governments enslaved to debt, and they want all of our politicians addicted to the huge financial contributions that they funnel into their campaigns.  Since the elite also own all of the big media companies, the mainstream media never lets us in on the secret that there is something fundamentally wrong with the way that our system works.

Remember, this is not some “conspiracy theorist” that is saying these things.  This is a Yale-educated attorney that worked inside the World Bank for more than two decades. Today, Hudes is trying very hard to expose the corrupt financial system that the global elite are using to control the wealth of the world.  During an interview with the New American, she discussed how we are willingly allowing this group of elitists to totally dominate the resources of the planet…

A former insider at the World Bank, ex-Senior Counsel Karen Hudes, says the global financial system is dominated by a small group of corrupt, power-hungry figures centered around the privately owned U.S. Federal Reserve. The network has seized control of the media to cover up its crimes, too, she explained. In an interview with The New American, Hudes said that when she tried to blow the whistle on multiple problems at the World Bank, she was fired for her efforts. Now, along with a network of fellow whistleblowers, Hudes is determined to expose and end the corruption. And she is confident of success.

Citing an explosive 2011 Swiss study published in the PLOS ONE journal on the “network of global corporate control,” Hudes pointed out that a small group of entities — mostly financial institutions and especially central banks — exert a massive amount of influence over the international economy from behind the scenes. “What is really going on is that the world’s resources are being dominated by this group,” she explained, adding that the “corrupt power grabbers” have managed to dominate the media as well. “They’re being allowed to do it.”

Previously, I have written about the Swiss study that Hudes mentioned.  It was conducted by a team of researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland.  They studied the relationships between 37 million companies and investors worldwide, and what they discovered is that there is a “super-entity” of just 147 very tightly knit mega-corporations that controls 40 percent of the entire global economy

When the team further untangled the web of ownership, it found much of it tracked back to a “super-entity” of 147 even more tightly knit companies – all of their ownership was held by other members of the super-entity – that controlled 40 per cent of the total wealth in the network. “In effect, less than 1 per cent of the companies were able to control 40 per cent of the entire network,” says Glattfelder. Most were financial institutions. The top 20 included Barclays Bank, JPMorgan Chase & Co, and The Goldman Sachs Group.

But the global elite don’t just control these mega-corporations.  According to Hudes, they also dominate the unelected, unaccountable organizations that control the finances of virtually every nation on the face of the planet.  The World Bank, the IMF and central banks such as the Federal Reserve literally control the creation and the flow of money worldwide.

At the apex of this system is the Bank for International Settlements.  It is the central bank of central banks, and posted below is a video where you can watch Hudes tell Greg Hunter of USAWatchdog.com the following…

“We don’t have to wait for anybody to fire the Fed or Bank for International Settlements . . . some states have already started to recognize silver and gold, the precious metals, as currency”
