Black Lesbian Publisher and Activist Says She’s “Saved” And No Longer “In the Life”

Black lesbian publisher Charlene E. Cothran tells all in the latest edition of her newly transformed VENUS Magazine. In an article entitled, “Redeemed! 10 Ways to Get Out of ‘The Life’ If You Want Out!,” Cothran shares her testimony of finding Jesus and her way out of “the life.” Cothran says, “…I must now come out of the closet again. I have recently experienced the power of change that came over me once I completely surrendered to the teachings of Jesus Christ. As a believer of the word of God, I fully accept and have always known that same-sex relationships are not what God intended for us.” For the record, you don’t ever have to worry about this Black lesbian doing a 180. I am a lesbian, I love women, and I always will. But I digressed…

Cothran also says that, “Homosexuality…is no greater sin than any of the others, but it is a sin.” Cothran credits her pastor Reverend Barbara F. Brewer of Interfaith Tabernacle Church and the Reverend Linda Hill-York of St. Phillips Missionary Baptists Church for her newfound reality. And as for the ten things us gays can do to get out of the life…

  1. Establish and accept for yourself that God’s word is As-Is
  2. Seek the truth within the scriptures about homosexuality
  3. Do not resist God’s call on your life
  4. Know with certainty that you are loved by God exactly where you are
  5. Say Yes.
  6. Make your salvation real
  7. Experience paradise Now!
  8. Walk carefully
  9. Have fellowship with believers
  10. Stay in touch
