Poland: Soros-Funded Activist Among 13 Radical Leftists Arrested for Sabotaging Border Barrier

A prominent activist of the Soros-funded Open Dialogue Foundation was among 13 far-left radicals detained by Polish security forces this weekend for sabotaging a barrier that had been set up to dissuade migrants from illegally crossing the Polish-Belarusian border.

The group of far-left activists were detained officials working for the Polish Border Guard sometime after they were filmed destroying a barbed-wire barrier that runs along Poland’s northeast border, Remix News reports.

“Border Guard officers along with Polish soldiers have detained a group of 13 people (12 Polish and 1 Dutch citizen) who were destroying technical blockades on the border with Belarus. Among the detained is Bartosz K. There is an ongoing process to bring charges against those involved,” the Polish Border Guard wrote.

Among the detainees was Bartosz Kramek, a well-known activist of the Open Dialogue Foundation – an international NGO financed by George Soros which claims to advocate for the advancement of the “rule of law” and “human rights” in the post-Soviet space within the European Union.

In a recent article penned for the Polish daily newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza, Kramek is urged people to sabotage and destroy fortifications that have been set up along the Polish-Belarusian border.

“We will protest in the spirit of civic insubordination,” Kramek wrote. “Let us go there and symbolically throw down those wires. We should protest, actively and decisively. Barriers are only in our own heads.”

Following the release of video footage that shows the activists destroying a section of the barrier, Mariusz Kamiński, Poland’s Minister of the Interior, pledged that the activist would face consequences for their illegal actions.

“The situation which occurred on our border is absolutely unacceptable. The perpetrators who broke the fence were detained by the Border Guard and will suffer all appropriate legal consequences for their actions. We will respond to similar acts with the same firmness,” Kamiński wrote on Twitter.

Some 10,000 migrants – most of whom are from the Middle East – have reached Belarus’s western border with Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia in recent weeks after Belarusian President Aleksander Lukashenko threatened to flood Central and Eastern Europe with a wave of illegal migrants.

Lukashenko has allowed more than 4,000 Iraqis and other migrants to cross illegally into Lithuania.
